ENCOURAGING NUTRITION AND THE APPROPRIATE INTAKE OF NUTRIENT-RICH FOOD

Dairy provides access to invaluable nutrition and essential nutrients that help the body and mind reach their full potential.

A World Without Cows - Nutrition

Every day, billions of people receive essential nutrition from consuming milk and dairy products, making it one of the basic building blocks of sustainable diets in most countries.

The global food challenge isn’t just about providing more food – it’s also about providing access to the essential nutrients that help the body and mind reach its full potential.

Dairy provides balanced nutrition that contributes significantly to the body’s need for energy, protein, and micronutrients. From prenatal nutrition, to healthy children and families, to aging adults – dairy’s nutrient-rich composition delivers health benefits throughout the lifespan. The dairy sector encourages well-designed, evidence-based research that evaluates dairy’s role in improving nutritional status and reducing diseases related to poor quality diet such as stunting, heart disease, diabetes and obesity.

There is currently little agreement internationally on practical ways to implement the concept of sustainable diets. The dairy sector supports exploring holistic solutions, using an inclusive approach, based on science and evidences – not on ideologies. Insufficient research that takes a less biodiverse, holistic view of food systems risks making assumptions that prove to be either overstated, oversimplified or wrong.
